Bio
Nepo is an experimental painter based in Tokyo, exploring identity and cultural connections through his Trinidadian roots, despite never having visited Trinidad. Drawing inspiration from Goya, Tokyo street art, haiku, and horror movies, he employs materials like sugar, cotton, Sumi ink, and woodblock carving tools to create multifaceted pieces that bridge cultural narratives.
With versatility across media — including acrylic on canvas, drawings, performance art, sound sculptures, and moving images — Nepo pushes the boundaries of contemporary art. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, he has exhibited at prestigious venues such as the National Gallery, engaging audiences in meaningful dialogue about his quest to understand and connect with his heritage.
